Your paint isn't faded. It's dead. Bring it back.

Dead Paint Society Wipe On Clear Coat is a hand-applied coating for sun-faded, chalky, oxidized paint. No spray gun, no compressor, no booth. Wipe it on with the applicator and let it level itself out.

Why it works for you

  • Wipe on by hand. Apply it in your driveway with a rag or applicator pad.
  • No spray gun. Nothing to mask, mix, or clean up after.
  • Self leveling. The coating flows out as it sets to help hide wipe marks.
  • Precision tip bottle for controlled pours.

Best for

  • Sun-faded and oxidized paint on hoods, roofs, and trunks
  • Dull, chalky single-stage paint
  • Daily drivers, work trucks, and project cars

How to use

  1. Wash and dry the panel. Remove wax, grease, and loose oxidation.
  2. Work in the shade on a cool surface with good ventilation.
  3. Apply a thin, even coat with the applicator in straight, overlapping passes.
  4. Let it level and cure before exposing it to water.

Better than a respray

I used this on a sun-faded truck hood that had become dull and chalky after years of outdoor exposure. I washed the surface thoroughly and made sure it was completely dry before applying the product. Application was straightforward, and once the finish leveled out, the panel looked noticeably richer and more uniform. I'll be interested to see how it holds up after several months outside. The only downside was that prepping the oxidized paint took longer than expected.

EASY

Applied it by hand in my driveway without any special tools. The process was straightforward, and the finish looked noticeably better afterward. Great for a simple DIY project.

Holds Up Well Outdoors

I've had this finish on for several months now, and it's held up better than I expected. It's been exposed to direct sunlight, rain, and changing temperatures, and the finish has remained in good shape. There's been minimal fading, and it hasn't started peeling or flaking. Overall, I'm happy with the durability and would consider using it again for future projects.

Great Results on a Sun-Faded Truck Hood

I used this on the sun-faded hood of my 2012 Chevrolet Silverado that had spent years sitting outside in the Florida sun. The paint had become dull and chalky, especially across the top of the hood. After applying the product, the finish looked noticeably richer and more even. It’s a good option to consider if you're trying to improve the appearance of older paint without immediately committing to a full repaint. However i wish they had next day shipping.

Straight answers

Questions before you wipe

How long does it last?
Up to two years, depending on conditions. Sun exposure, climate, how well the panel was prepped, and how the car is washed and stored all affect how long it holds up.
What does it actually do?
It is a hand-applied coating for paint that has gone dull, chalky, and faded from the sun. You wipe it on, it levels out as it sets, and it protects the paint for up to two years.
Do I need a spray gun or compressor?
No. It goes on by hand with an applicator or a lint-free rag.
One bottle or the 2-pack?
Each bottle is 4 fl oz. One bottle suits a sedan or a few panels. Get the 2-pack for trucks, SUVs, two cars, or a second coat, and save $9.99.
Can I repaint over it later?
It is a silicone resin coating, and silicone can interfere with new paint. If the car is headed to a body shop, tell them it has been coated so they can prep for it.
